Which cars are stolen the most in the EU?

Car thefts are, have been and unfortunately will be the biggest scarecrow of all motorists. None of us wants to experience the unpleasant morning when, instead of a leisurely trip to work, you travel by public transport to the police with your vehicle. Even if the worst times of the eldorád car ride are happily over, this does not mean that you will not enjoy the mentioned cold morning shower yet. Police statistics are positive – the number of thefts has tripled in the last ten years, yet four owners do not find a vehicle in their place every day.

If you say that this threat applies in particular to the new Group vehicles, which are at the top of the police statistics every year, you are wrong. Cars such as the VW Passat, Škoda Octavia and other bestsellers in our region are the most frequent victims of perpetrators, but they are also by far the most numerous inhabitants of our car parks. Statistics evaluating the total number of stolen vehicles reflect their number, and therefore their objectivity is questionable. However, when we look at the statistics of stolen vehicles calculated per 1000 pieces of a given model in traffic, the situation is suddenly completely different.

Nobody makes such statistics in our country, but for example we can look at the statistics compiled in Germany, which is the European car giant. The statistics of the probability of theft were compiled by the Association of German Insurance Companies GDV, which, based on its findings, compiled a ranking of the most stolen vehicles. As in the past, the results of statistics confirm that the black market always copies the requirements of the official one. Offenders and their clients simply have the same taste as most ordinary motorists. That’s why they are the most endangered type of car today, attractive SUVs and Crossovers.

The greatest risk is borne by owners of premium brand diesel vehicles with a higher displacement, which are still in great demand. In this category is surprisingly the most stolen Toyota Landcruiser 3.0 TD followed by BMW X5 1st generation and Audi Q7 4.2 TDI. The German carmaker is represented by the highest number of places in the table by the carmaker BMW, whose X5 and X6 models are the “bestseller” on the black market. In the top 30, however, in addition to premium pieces, there are also exceptions such as the Honda Accord 2.4i, Toyota GT86, Mazda CX-3 and, of course, exotic Porsche, Jaguar and Lexus.

The results of these statistics prove that even the owner of a car of non-European origin does not have to avoid theft, because the perpetrators are looking for the same car that you wanted when you bought it. The times in which only the owners of corporate sedans had to worry about their four-wheel investment are irretrievably gone and everyone can experience the unpleasant situation.

As in the past, the greatest certainty today is the additional security of the car with the right car alarm, which will not only deter the potential perpetrator but also effectively prevent theft. It is also important to choose security that is easy to use and does not upset the owner’s life. Even a completely unbeatable car alarm is pointless without a functional user interface, because you simply stop using it.

An example of functional car security that will not only protect your vehicle but also take your comfort and control options to a whole new level are Pandora car alarms. Thanks to a great combination of unbeatable multi-element protection, remote control and other advanced functions, you will sleep peacefully and, in addition, you will enjoy your car more than ever before.
